The credit history of the borrower matters a lot, maybe the most, when it comes to the lender taking decision whether they should lend you the money or not. Your credit history tells them about the loans that you have borrowed previously and how you have repaid them back. It also tells them if you have defaulted on loans, which can lead to a bad credit rating and thus can get you rejected for loans.

So as a responsible borrower, you must educated yourselves about the type of information that your credit record carries.

Report Summary

The report summary of your credit record displays important information first, also displaying the credit score given to you by the credit report agency. The lenders may take decisions on the basis of this score. However, not every credit report company will give you the same score and not every lender will judge the same score to be in their parameters. Also, not every lender may look at your credit score, like short term payday lenders. The major information is given in the report summary and include any major negative or positive factors. The negative factors generally display the defaulted loans or late repayments.

Profile Information

Your full name, age, permanent address, and the last two addresses you have lived at along with the stay duration will be displayed in this section. The information shown here must be correct or else you may end up in legal hassles.

Account Information

The summary of all your accounts will be show here. The included accounts are typically your mortgages, mobile phone contracts, and bank accounts. It will give a detail of the last twelve months of transactions of these accounts. The payments done on these accounts are satisfactory or not will also be indicated here.

In case you have missed a payment, it will show up in this section. Any debt you owe to any company will also be displayed. Pending and missed payments can damage your credit score, making them unsatisfactory for getting approved for credit.

Electoral Roll

The electoral roll section will display the addresses which were linked with you on the electoral roll. In case you aren’t on the roll, then that is a very easy method of helping your credit score.

There is a misconception among people that previous tenants can get your address blacklisted, which is not very true. There is really no thing called credit blacklist. Also, you will be linked to them only if there is some financial link between you and the tenants. The credit ratings is only about you and not your tenants.

Aliases

In case you have any other official names, it will be displayed here. This can happened if you are a performer. Please note that this section is susceptible to mistakes, so double-check with your lenders while filling up applications and make sure you use aliases very carefully. Some people have accidentally got wrong aliases registered in their name, which can cause issues later.

Financial Associations

If you are associated with anyone financially, the details of that association will show up here. This will usually be your housemate, spouse, or partner. In case an association shows up here which you are not aware of, you should report it immediately. It can happen that your finances might get linked with a wrong person and any issues on their report can influence yours.

Public Record Information

Any information about your finances held in the public record will show up here. For example:

·       Debt relief orders

·       County court judgements

·       Individual voluntary arrangements

·       Bankruptcies

Such information can cause damage to your credit score drastically. So in case something in this section is registered and you are not aware of it, you should look into it clearly.

Financial Associate Searches

If you are linked to someone financially, this section will display if your credit history has been checked because of that person. Who made the check and whom are you associated with will be displayed here. Make sure that in Financial Associations, you must be aware that no one you are not aware of should show up in the section.

GAIN

‘Gone Away Information Network’ or GAIN basically shows in case someone owed money at some time and then changed address without updating the new address with the lender. This area is taken very seriously, so make sure you always keep your address with the lenders up to date, or else they might think you have cheated on them.
